Baga

04Hospitality2026Concept

A Filipino grill house on Karangahape Road, led by smoke and charcoal.

Baga on a phone: the opening.

Brief

A concept for an inihaw house in Auckland serving the grills of Bacolod and Manila: chicken inasal, pork BBQ, isaw and halo-halo. It needed to feel like the food: hot, generous and unmistakably Filipino.

Baga home page: 'Street food, slow fired' over chicken on the grill.

Approach

Lead with the fire. Close-up grill photography, an ember accent used only where heat is, and a menu that reads like a street stall's board. The story of the charcoal, the basting and the dipping sauces does the selling, so the page never has to.

Baga: 'From the grill, and the street', the menu.Baga: Uling, hardwood charcoal banked to a glow.

What we made

A one-page Next.js site: a looping hero film, a menu with dish details, the charcoal story in stages, a sawsawan dipping-sauce section, kamayan feasts and a reservation form.

Baga: the kamayan feast laid out on banana leaves.
